“The Last Lie She Told” Review

Hello Friends!

First of all I want to apologize to Rachel and K. J. McGillick for only posting this review right now. I wasn’t home all day and I didn’t finish adding some color and the photos on the post last night. Since I still have my family that came from France here I have been super busy and haven’t been able to do and schedule the posts.

Anyway, I bring you K. J. McGillick‘s new book “The Last Lie She Told“, an amazing suspense book that grabs your attention with such a strong hold that you won’t be able to stop reading.

I need to thank Rachel, at Rachel’s Random Resources, and K. J. McGillick for the eCopy of the book and for allowing me to be a part of this blog tour and give my honest review.

The Last Lie Told

Blurb

Lies and misdirection rule the game.

The-last-lie-told-customDesign-2018-eBook-CoverTo some, Fiona O’Dell is clever and manipulative. To others, she is a dangerous sociopath. One thing is certain – she’s trouble wherever she goes. Now she has vanished from her job, but not before being seen leaving a motel room where one man is found dead, another on the edge of death. Is this grizzly crime scene a BDSM encounter gone wrong? Or is it related to a company data breach where all three are employed?

Private security expert Lee Stone and NYPD Detective Belle Hughes are assigned to the case. In a race to find Fiona, they track her across four states and shocked to find men from her past are being murdered. With little information and even less evidence, each new crime scene brings more questions than answers.

While secrets are revealed, there is only one conclusion: Fiona controls the game, the players, even the course of the investigation. The danger escalates, and the game must be mastered, or all fall victim to it. As Lee and Belle struggle to put all the pieces together, the two investigators find their relationship heats up as they are drawn to each other. Looking for a murder mystery with a feisty female detective that’s filled with twists and turns? Explore The Last Lie She Told for a thrill ride that leaves you guessing until the end.

My Review

P1060093This is my first book by K.J.McGillick and I most say, I loved it. It was such an unexpected book for me. Even after reading the blurb the first time, I wasn’t sure what I would find in the actually storyline.

The plot was amazing. I met new characters that I really wasn’t think that I would read about. And I could tell you about them but I want you guys to find them out too. Let’s just say that Lee and Belle were great characters and I was very please to see that the strong idea I had of them, after reading the blurb and reading the first few page where they first appear, didn’t disappear, I was not disappointed by them.

I actually liked Fiona. I can really appreciate how K.J. gave her some qualities and the background that made her a strong main character. She’s painted as the criminal from the beginning and every book has to have that character that we love because of how wicked or just villainess they are. No matter if it’s true or now. No matter their reason. No matter what… If that’s how the act or how they look like to others, in a book, when we have that kind of character I immediately am intrigued. That’s what happened to Fiona for me.

20180809_225335The storyline is written in the first person POV of several main characters, so we get real close to the characters and I think that was perfect for this plot and this genre of book. It gave us this personal attachment to the characters and made it even more engaging. It doesn’t work all the time for me, but in this case it was the perfect combination to create the much needed suspense and grab my attention.

It was twist after twist, just the right amount of questions and answers to leave us wondering and wanting for more. And K.J. McGillick knows how to create a rollercoaster ride that leave us at the edge of our seats, in balance with a just the right amount of love, crime, humor and cliffhanger moments.

I totally recommend this book and I can’t wait to read the next one in the series.
