AftereffectsWhat could be more terrifying than falling in love with the person who is your good place? Maybe realizing just a smidge too late that there can be dire consequences to becoming your best friend’s lover.

The lives of Keir Stevens and Selene Georgiou serendipitously collide mid-span on San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge, one jarring step ahead of fate. He’s a temporary transplant from Seattle; she’s facing the biggest career opportunity of her life. They have no notion of the common thread that connects them.

As they come to discover they share a similar adversity, their relationship evolves from a fun and frivolous infatuation with nowhere to go into a true friendship with sincerity, humor, and respect at its heart.

It’s awfully hard not to fall in love with that – even if you’re pretty darn certain you shouldn’t.

But when love and friendship suffer their own devastating collision – their interests brutally conflicting – the consequences of blurring the lines between the two suddenly become real. In the end, which one will be the stronger? And more importantly, can either survive?

AFTER EFFECTS is a standalone dual POV adult contemporary romance about the things we choose in life out of all the things that are beyond our choosing – a tale of love and friendship, of time and how we spend it, and of the inner wars that ultimately show us what really matters.

My Review

P1060826This is the first book I have read of L. J. Greene, and although it’s the third in the series, I didn’t feel that made any negative impact in my opinion and understanding of this book, in fact, it makes me want to go read the other two books as soon as I can.

This was an emotional story. There are a lot of aspects I love in this book, and that in some ways I can relate. First let me tell you about the characters. I loved that the book had a dual point of view, I feel like that opened my understanding of the characters and made the story stronger, in this case, since it was a Friends to Lovers romantic plot.

Then there is that romantic plot aspect. Friends to Lovers is always something I find intriguing in a book. It makes me wonder because of some past experiences. And I could understand what they were feeling in the “taking a chance” decision. I ended up not taking any chances at all, because I truly believed it was a one sided love. And since he didn’t take a chance on me either… I may have done the right thing. But the wondering still goes through my mind sometimes. Anyway, I could connect with them because of that.

P1060652Then, of course, were the amazing way the characters were written in this story. They felt real. I felt empathy and seeing how their feeling develop and how their relationship progressed into meeting to friends to lovers was fantastic. Keir was charming, funny, determined, intelligent and sexy. Selena was an amazing female character since she was driven, funny, smart and strong. Of course, they felt real because not only could I see the qualities, I could see their faults, insecurities and demons, and that just made them two amazing characters.

Overall, I loved the book. It’s a book I recommend to everyone, not only as an escape from real world, but also just to enjoy a good love story that touches hearts and make us wonder about our personal lives, because of the connection we may get and feel. And to me, seeing their love blossoming and their relationship making them be the support system they need to deal with all the demons and problems in their lives was perfect for the all storyline and felt real.

Rebecca Trogner started writing her first novel after watching True Blood. Of course it was about vampires and thus The Last Keepers Daughter was born. The next, The Last Guardian Rises, continued the series. Her latest book, Secrets In Our Scars, is a contemporary romance and a lot spicier. She’s working on her fourth book with the help of her rescued animal pets.

My Review

P1060730This is the first book I’m reading of Rebecca Trogner and I must say it was an amazing book. At least I as captivated by the cover and the title, they made me want to go read the blurb, and once I did I was hooked. I wanted to join in the story and learn more about the characters and their lives.

The author knows how to grab the attention of the readers and how to keep the momentum going with the suspense and the twists and turns of this plot. But to all my fellow book lovers, this book contains some triggers so be careful. In this novel, Rebecca Trogner talks about PTSD, anxiety and sexual assault. And those heavy subjects are what make this book powerful.

We get to read this book in Daisy Aldridge’s POV, in the first person narration, and that makes it possible for us (the readers) to understand what’s going on in her live – past, present and future – and her mind. As the book follows her daily routine, and as she deals with all the demons in her life, there is this connection. I felt like not only was she a well-developed character, she still had the potential to grow, and so she did.

P1060649Then there is Roy. His life wasn’t the sweetest. He was just as broken as her and that made them connect. But since it was in the 1st person POV, following Daisy, I felt like I didn’t get to understand fully Roy’s personality, that’s always my problem with some books that only follow one person, in a 1st person narrative. Nevertheless, I understood some of his feelings and that gave me that glimpse of his truth.

Once Daisy met Roy and their relationship begins… Things change. I got to see their interaction, and how they fell in love. And if the storyline was that simple it wouldn’t be a suspense book as well as a Romance book, so of course there were a lot of unexpected things that happened.

Like I said before there were twists and turns that kept that suspense in the air, and if the romance doesn’t make you guys want to read the book, and if the heartbroken life story doesn’t make you curious to see if Daisy will ever have a happy life, then read the book because of that suspense aspect. You won’t me disappointed.

The house is home to a beautiful woman and a little girl with big blue eyes. Day after day, he drives back only to hide in the shadows and wonder why he can’t seem to walk away from them.

His therapist says is PTSD.

His handler tells him he’s just not cut out to be part of the civilian world.

When the two worlds collide, Luke needs his mind to be stronger than the implant the government placed in his back. My Review

P1060559This is the first book I have ever read of Andrea Bills and I most say that she is now on my favorite authors’ list, and I’m quite excited for when I can get her other books (once I have a job and more money). I have a lot of things to say about this book and I’m very excited to share it with all of you.

First of all, this was an amazing romance book. There were a lot of elements in this story that I loved. From the characters to the plot… From the the romance to the drama… Military man, single mom, second chances, mysteries, action and lot of chemistry between Luke and Jen. Plus, there is the little cute Bella that just made the book sweet.

P1060629With the action, I couldn’t put the book down and I felt like I was there, trying to run away with the characters and help them out. Each time Luke got one more memory made my heart full of happiness, and each time Luke, Jen and Bella interacted was so much fun and got me so excited.

Despite all the drama, the past and the running away, it it wasn’t all fast paced moments, there were some sweet, slower, daily routine scenes that were a good balance to the jumping, running, fighting, fearing parts of the plot. And that equilibrium took the book to another level. Then again, it had that suspense and military aspect and if the book didn’t have a bit of action, it would be disappointing.

Andrea did an amazing job with now only the descriptions but also with the suspense aspect. She took us on a journey and left us sometimes unsure with whom the Luke and Jen should trust. Until the very end there were twists and turns that left me curious about the future.

P1060748Another aspect I liked in this book was the technology, it gave the book a different depth and not only did it gave the plot an all new path, but it also created suspense and action. Plus… Imagine what other things could happen if other soldiers turned out like Luke, and end up hardwired? I would pay to read any book if Andrea Bills every writes other books in this “fictional” world. Nevertheless, I’m very happy with this one as it is.

I’m happy I volunteered to read this book and reviewed it, because it was one of my favorites military romances I have read in a while. Now I hope she gets to give Dean and Kip their own books, because I was quite intrigued by them. Also… all those information in the end… and the possibility for more… I have no idea if this will turn it to a series, but no matter what you can count on seeing reviews of Andrea’s other books (past and future books).
