My Review

I have read Historical Romances before, but I have never read that many Medieval ones, so I’m always fascinated about the different subgenres and the way the story is told because of how the past is portrait. This book is in that subgenre, and the first I have read of this author.

As we follow Lady Ellena Swein’s and Sir Braedan Leofric’s story through a brilliantly crafted journey that was as exciting, as it was romantic, I ended up falling in love with the characters. Ellena quite a strong and independent woman, which is amazing because I lover powerful female characters. Braedan is not what we think he is, despite his nick name being The Beast.

P1070888This adventure had a good pace and a good plot, that made it so fun to read. From the descriptions to the dialogues. From all the complex characters that made us connect with the storyline, despite the space and time being very different from our lives.

I loved the book. I loved every moment between Ellena and Braedan, I loved them together because they were meant for each other and I could see it from the very beginning and seeing them grow closer and getting to learn more about each other… those were the best parts of the book. I loved that I was so focus in the story that I could feel the characters emotion and I felt I was transported there.

Overall, I felt very excited about reading another medieval romance novel and expand my knowledge and I was not disappointed. I loved it and I can’t for more books in this subgenre. I learn something, I was transported to a time I don’t know much about to be honest, and still I felt the love, the excitement, the action, the drama and some sort of friendship towards them.

About the Author

Nicole LockeNicole discovered her first romance novel in a closet, where her grandmother, the godmother in the romance black market, was hiding hundreds. Knowing her grandmother wouldn’t approve, Nicole hid in the closet to read them. It was only a matter of time before she was found out and given an offer she couldn’t refuse: enjoy them, but out in the living room please. Oh, and if she could go to the store and get a few more…. A few more? Nicole got two jobs.

Inexplicably, Nicole stopped reading romances (she blames her handsome university English professor, who she was trying and failing to impress). So she didn’t discover them again until, at work, where another black market book swap occurred. Instead of swapping for another forgettable book, Nicole chose a romance (which she still reads).

Needless to say, she didn’t return to work (good thing it was after 5:00 pm) and she didn’t immediately return home either. At that moment, she insists Etta James was singing “At Last”. It was only natural she’d start writing romances as well.

Currently, she lives in Seattle with her two completely opposite children, who if not for their birth certificates and their red hair, she’d argue they weren’t related, and her husband, who if not for his red hair, would have returned them.

My Review

Most everyone knows I love Historical Romances, they are the kinds of books I read when I need to just get transported to another time, and Nicole Locke did an amazing job with this novel, and pretty soon I’m going to start reading her books that I have at home.

P1070802I couldn’t stop reading the book, I was reading it the day I had a book club session at the library, and I was even reading the book while waiting. I loved it so much and I couldn’t stop because I wanted to learn more about the characters.

The amazing thing in this books is the characters. I love their interaction and I can’t wait to see if Nicole Locke will give two characters I love their own books, they so deserve to be happy. But back to the MC in this story. Reynold and Aliette… Such an interesting and amazing couple. They may seem like they wouldn’t be good together because of their pasts and problems, but that’s where they find a connection.

They both had their past, and demons… They both had mysteries… They both were so well written that reading about them felt like I was right there, part of their family. I felt connected to them, despite my life being nothing like theirs, nevertheless, it was amazing. We see their development at the same time as we see their relationship grow and that was so fantastic and heartwarming.

I loved Aliette and her Darkness, they were one of those couples in this genre that are on my list of amazing couples. I wanted to read more about them, see their future more than what was giving to us. Then again, I’m hoping to see them in future books.

Overall, I haven’t read all the books in the series, and I know some references appeared to previous books, but that didn’t seemed to matter, and you can read it as a Standalone, and I promise, by the end you will want to read the entire series.

My Review

This is the last novel in the series and what a perfect ending. I have no idea if there is ever going to be s spinoff of this series, but if it ever happens, I will get very excited. I loved the concept of the entire series and for someone that, like me, hasn’t read a lot of books in some particular eras, like medieval times, this is a great opportunity to expand our knowledge.

There are a couple of things that I found out about myself thanks to reading Historical Romances, one is that I do love a good marriage of convenience story. So many possibilities of drama and excitement, and Nicole Locke brought us that.

Rory and Ailsa and their love story was one I was very curious about and I was not disappointed. The fact that we had to go back in time through out the books in this series until we could read this one was such an adventure. The feisty interactions and the melting moments… Learning more about this couple and seeing the relationship change as they grow closer.

I haven’t read many medieval era novels, compared to the amount of regency ones I have read, so I was very curious about the descriptions and the feel of this book. And I just loved it! It was as vivid as the previous ones. The way the setting was describe, as well as the characters and the society, it had this raw feel to it, maybe because of the time period.

It had drama, danger and mystery that gave the story some action and gave me the need to keep reading not even caring if it was 3 a.m. I love when a book grabs my attention in this way, and Nicole’s storytelling combined with the plot of the novel, was what was needed to keep me focus and forgetting I was tired.

Overall, this was an amazing ending for a series and I didn’t expect any less. Definitely a series I highly recommend, despite being it possible to read as a standalone, I would recommend the reader to follow the order of the books so they can experience the rollercoaster to it’s fullest, and so they can get to this story with much more excitement as the one they started with.

“Reclaimed by her Rebel Knight” Review

Hello Friends!

I hope you are all doing well this Sunday. For me it’s day 4 of vacation and I’m doing a lot of reading and hopefully I can get some reviews done this month because I need to share my thoughts with you guys.

And today I bring you a review of a book written by an amazing author.

Reclaimed by her Rebel Knight“, written by Jenni Fletcher, is a Historical Romance novel, published on 1st August 2019 by Mills and Boon.

I want to thank Rachel, at Rachel’s Random Resources, and Jenni Fletcher for the eCopy of this book and for allowing me to join in the fun and being a part of the blog tour with my honest review of the book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Author Bio

IMG_4730Jenni Fletcher was born on the north coast of Scotland and now lives in Yorkshire, where she writes Medieval, Roman and Victorian romance novels.

She studied English at Cambridge University before doing an MA on Women and Literature in English and a PhD on Victorian & Edwardian literature at Hull. After realising that she was better at writing than teaching, she worked in a number of administrative jobs whilst trying to finish her first book, which was rejected. Thinking there must have been some mistake, she then wrote another, which was fortunately accepted by Harlequin Mills & Boon.

Her favourite Jane Austen novel is Persuasion and her favourite Brontë is Anne. If she had to choose a romantic hero it would be John Thornton, but maybe that’s just because she’s Northern.

My Review

This isn’t the first book I’m reading of Jenni Fletcher, her books have been a part of my life in the past two years, and although I haven’t reviewed all of them, and I definitely haven’t read them all, I have found myself in love with her writing style. In this book we are brought to a place and time that has always made me curious and interesting in learning about. But a Historical Romance grabs my attention because it take us back in time in a different way, and this author totally did that for me.

We met Constance and Matthew, that got married while very young out of necessity, and right after the wedding, Matthew has to leave. And that’s how the all story starts, years later once Matthew is back. Then on, we are left following them as they finally are able to get to know one another and we see their relationship and marriage grow.

This was a captivating and thrilling love story. Constance is a strong character, that comes off as a kind, independent, resilient and, after all she has been through, she’s so amazing. I absolutely love her. Then there is Matthew, the kind of man that knows what he wants, and he was definitely a very refreshing character sometimes because of the directive-ness, no matter his emotions and responsibilities.

And I could say so much more about this book, about how I loved the plot and all that made this book unique. About the main characters… About how it was exciting, with a pace that made the storytelling amazing… But I really want you guys to learn about all those things. About what really made Matthew the interesting man and not just a brute, and about what made Constance such a strong young woman.

Overall, I loved this books and the characters. This couple was one of my favorites this summer. All the flaws, all the problems, all the emotions, all the qualities, all the dreams and the secrets, all the interactions, all the reasons that pushed them together and all the reasons that made this book amazing… I loved everything and I couldn’t stop reading until I learned everything about this world and about Constance and Matthew.

I highly recommend this book. You guys know I love historical romances, and this was amazing!
