My Review

This book follows Elle, living in a small town in the countryside, and she has dreams of adventure. I really loved how I could relate in certain ways to Elle which was amazing. I liked the vulnerability, the Elle’s past, and the topics that are talked about.

There were a lot of elements that grabbed my attention, some I have already referenced. Another things I liked was the interactions between the characters and the entire community and the background. The fact that it was set in the countryside, it made it a bit cozy and relatable to me.

I could say many other things. There were a lot of questions as I had while reading that made me curious. I wanted to know more about Elle and the town. I wanted to know what would happen in the end. And it was quite a good balance with the warmth the book had as well.

Overall, I enjoyed the plot. I liked how the story and the characters developed. It was a lovely book with romance, family, friendship, and moments of emotion and reflection.

Promo Post: “Stranded at the Sandbar”, by Jess Mastorakos

Hello Friends!

Today I bring you a promo post of a romance novel, one that is a military romance. Since I’m from Portugal, it’s quite interesting to see and read these kinds of book in this subgenre. I don’t know if they are realistic or not, so I go in for the romance and the excitement that may exist.

This book and the previous ones in the series are now one my TBR list for the future. And if you like these kinds of books, and this one intrigues you, go for it, and later on let me know your thoughts.

Stranded at the Sandbar“, written by Jess Mastorakos, is a romance novel, in the military romance subgenre, the third book of the Kailua Marines Series, published on ‎ June 30, 2021.

Synopsis

57742947. sy475

People dream of being stranded in paradise… until it happens for real.

You know those dumb quizzes on social media that tell you to pick the one person you wouldn’t mind being stuck on a deserted island with? Well, a few months ago, I would have said Kate, hands down. Easy day. We had a great thing going, and I even thought she was the one. Until she ghosted me.

Now she’s back and wants to make amends. She had a reason for what she did, even if it hurt, so against my better judgment I invited her to go fishing on my boat. I definitely didn’t plan for what happened next. And the fierce need inside me to protect her at all costs? That surprised me too.

Now we’re stuck together. And even though there’s a chance that this girl is the one for me, I just can’t shake what happened last time. Not with a deployment looming. What happens if history repeats itself and I’m not here to stop it?

But first we need to get through this whole being stranded thing. And then after we’re rescued, we’ll deal with the rest. Because there’s no time for romance when you’re busy trying to survive, right?

Stranded at the Sandbar is book three in this sweet military romance series and is told in both points of view in first person. Each book can be read as a standalone but are fun to read in order!

My Review

The idea of finding love no matter the age, and no matter the experience we have had in our life – either marriage, children,… – we do deserve to be happy. To find the happiness even if it take us on an adventure around the world. That’s something that actually made me excited about the book.

In this story we follow Amelia, after the end of her marriage, going on a journey to find a man she met one time many years ago. Will she find him? Will the sparks and interest still be there? Will she truly fall in love with him or will life give her an even crazier and different path?

I don’t want to tell you about the plot since I want you guys to have fun with the story and discovering what will happen in the adventure and in this new chapter of Amelia’s life.

I did love that we had a mother, because that always makes me wonder about my mom and I end up connecting with the character in a “family” way. Plus, I loved that she had a support system and I loved Amelia’s interactions with her kids and her friends, as well as everyone around her. I had fun with the book because of those connections between the characters and the backgrounds they had and their motivations and goals.

Overall, I enjoyed it. It was this romcom kind of story. And although I usually don’t like all movies in that genre, when it comes to books I quite like them. They are always full of fun moments. In this book it also had many relatable scenes and thoughts, and let’s not forget it was just a perfect story to dream, relax and just what I needed.

My Review

This book is the first on in a series so it’s the introduction to the characters, their reasoning to being in that context and revealing some aspects of the background. It’s the opening to a brand-new story, adventure and romance.

In this novel we follow Abigail and Edward as they end up co-owning Winfield Hall. An artist and a business man… One may think it’s a weird combination, but it’s quite perfect with the plot and how their relationship develops. There is a connection and secrets that got revealed.

I loved the scenery and how the author opened us to the beauty of the country side. Quite dreamy. And it was the perfect setting for me. I love books set in the rural and nature ambiance, because that’s were I live. I live in the a semi-rural area, a small town close by the ocean. Nature is a good place to set a story for me. It makes me feel at home.

Overall, it was exciting to start this series. There are still a lot of things do discover, since it’s the first novel. And that fact makes me curious to read the next one. I want to learn what will happen next, I want to continue to fall for the characters and learn about them and what secrets they are guarding.

“Reawakened” Review

From reviews of thrillers and crime novels, I’m jumping to a steamy book review.

Synopsis

Reawakened Cover

In the latest superhot tale from reader-favorite author Rachael Stewart, business owner Olivia Carmel is embracing her wild side, and PR expert Valentine Boretti has been hired to rein her in. But instead, Olivia is driving him wild…for her!

Seeing a client naked is no way to start a working relationship—especially when that client is stunningly sensual Olivia Carmel. When she invites me to watch her BDSM session in London’s most hedonistic sex club, she thinks I’m a stranger, not a PR expert sent to rein her in.

Watching Olivia awakens a hunger I can’t allow myself to feel. There’s no way I can work with her! But when she crashes her luxury car, I can’t sit on the sidelines and wait for her recklessness to turn fatal. She may kill me when she recognizes me…and when she learns a man sixteen years her junior has been hired to curtail her bad behavior.

I’m here to reawaken Olivia’s careful, rational nature. But instead she’s reawakening my desire…showing me just how well we work together in and out of the bedroom. As we fulfill each other’s naughtiest fantasies, and share our deepest longings, I realize I’m feeling more for my wayward client than lust. But can I convince Olivia to take a chance on love?

About the Author

Rachael Stewart Author Photo

Rachael Stewart adores conjuring up stories for the readers of Harlequin Mills & Boon and Deep Desires Press, with tales varying from the heartwarmingly romantic to the wildly erotic.

She’s been writing since she could put pen to paper as the stacks of scrawled on A4 sheets in her loft will attest to, and the lovingly bound short stories that her father would run off at work and proudly share out with his colleagues. Thinking it was a pipe dream to be published one day, she pursued a sensible career in business but she was really play-acting, achieving the appropriate degree and spending many years in the corporate world where she never truly belonged. Always happiest when she was sat at her laptop in the quiet hours tapping out a story or two. And so here she is, a published author, her full-time pleasure, a dream come true.

A Welsh lass at heart, she now lives in Yorkshire with her husband and three children, and if she’s not glued to her laptop, she’s wrapped up in them or enjoying the great outdoors seeking out inspiration.

My Review

Rachael Stewart’s books are always fun, exciting and steamy. And I was not disappointed with this one. Just what I needed to balance my reading life.

In this book we follow Olivia and Valentine, a journey of romance, seduction, wildness, and self exploration. The book is not all about the steamy scenes, it’s also about the characters past and their presents and future, it’s about their needs and wants, it’s about what they fear and what they wish for.

To me honest, I haven’t read many books following an older woman & younger man romance. I don’t know what people’s thoughts are about it. I don’t really have a problem with it, since the characters are adults, they can do whatever they please. I quite enjoyed how their relationship developed.

Overall I liked the story a lot. I guess Rachael Stewart can get me to enjoy everything she writes. It’s her writing style, it’s the feels she puts in her stories, is the plots, the characters and their backgrounds. Okay, and I’m incredibly jealous because she always picks amazing names for her characters and I want to do that too!

My Review

Summer time! Beach setting! Let’s go!

We are getting close to Summer, although the weather at this exact time in Portugal hasn’t been the best. But we can always get warm by traveling through a book as “Life’s a Beach” and not only enjoy a virtual trip to Italy and the beach, but also enjoy a romance in a lovely setting.

This isn’t the first book by Portia MacIntosh that I have read and I enjoyed it even more that the one I have previously read. “Life’s a Beach” had this fun and witty tone, a interesting plot with a group of characters that made me excited.

As we follow Peach (let me just say that I love that name) through this adventure during her sister Di’s wedding, we jump into an exciting rollercoaster of moments that grabbed my attention from beginning to end. The book was revelation and surprises after excitement. Honestly that’s what I felt. And following Peach as she dealt with everything just made me connect with her and wanting more.

Romance, Drama, Past and Present, Family and Friends, Excitement and Unexpected moments… An entertaining story, perfect for a summer day, and specially if you are looking for a fun time reading.

Overall, I was surprised and I enjoyed every second of the story, will reading page after page. It made me laugh, it made curious, it made me just forget real life for a second, as one would while watching a movie or an episode of a tv show.

TV journalist Lou feels battered and bruised after her divorce from Phil, the father of her daughter Edie. Her confidence and sense of fun have steadily been drained away, and she isn’t sure who she is any more.

When the opportunity arises to accompany Edie on a music camp in Italy for a month in the summer, Lou jumps at the chance for new adventures, new horizons and new friends. The hazy warmth of the summer sun, shining brightly over the stunning Lake Garda, slowly brings Lou back to life.

Nick Romano, Edie’s music teacher, loves being home in Italy, but coaching his students for their concert in Milan, is bringing back difficult memories. His blossoming friendship with Lou is the perfect distraction, although a summer fling would be easier to conduct without the scrutiny of his mother Greta, not to mention the interference of his extended Italian family.

As the summer passes, full of sunshine and breath-taking scenery, gelato and delicious feasts, Lou and Nick get ever closer. But as the time for farewell creeps up on them, will they be able to say goodbye and leave their memories behind in the Italian sun, or can a summer romance last a lifetime?

My Review

A lot has happened in the past few years and I have come to realize and appreciate those contemporary books that allow me to travel to another (REAL) country/place. This romance takes me to a country that has been in my bucket list since I was 12 and I met some friends that were from Italy, during a summer camp.

“Italy Ever After” as the perfect elements for a Saturday afternoon read, one of those stories that we grab, relax and just enjoy a romance journey. It also had that warmth that calls to be read during the summer, and you probably know what I will do: reread this Italian set romance, at the beach in Portugal. How perfect could it be?

We have characters that aren’t perfect at all and that just made me happy because it felt real, I could understand the characters and their actions, goals, likes/dislikes and fears. From Lou and her daughter Edie, to Nick… From the interactions, to the growth…

Funny enough, I’m kind of hoping that one day in the future, the author will write Edie’s story. She definitely has potential to be a star of a book. Plus, she was so cute and I want to see how her growth will continue throughout her life. But that’s just me, the reader that loves to see all the amazing characters happy and romance in their lives.

It was fantastic that this book was set in Italy during a summer camp, this one a music camp, and although I’m a music expert, I did enjoy the setting and that camp element. And I kind of could relate since I have done a summer camp in another country. And that’s why I was curious, part of me felt that connection immediately, and the other part of me wondered about the romance and the exciting of meting new people.

Overall, I enjoyed this story a lot. Stories set in Italy always have a magical touch to me. I really can’t wait to see were the author will take me next in her other novels (the one she has already published, and all of those that are yet to arrive).

It’s 8:30am and I’m already utterly exhausted. My son has lost his football boots, my daughter is ready for school dressed only in her vest and knickers, and of course, my 1-year-old has filled his nappy for what feels like the tenth time this morning.

As for my husband? He’s decided marriage doesn’t suit him, and well… buggered off.

All hope of ‘me time’ has but dwindled to sipping half a glass of wine whilst shouting after the kids. But everything is about to change.

I’m taking control of my life! I’ve joined… a book club.

Yes, I know what you’re thinking. ‘Wow… live a little.’ But my fellow book clubbers, Amanda and Janey, are my lifelines. They understand the daily struggle because they’re mothers too.

And in between the prosecco, Doritos and googling everything about Mr Darcy on SparkNotes, they’ve convinced me to go on a date with my boss.

A single mum of three looking for romance… what could possibly go wrong?

A gloriously funny and relatable read for anyone who just needs a little more ‘me time’. Fans of Why Mummy Drinks and Has Anyone Seen my Sex Life? will snort with laughter at this utterly hilarious and heart-warming read.

My Review

RomComs are the genre on reads with snacks and ready to have fun. That’s what I did.

When I read the synopsis of this book, I was excited. A dear friend of mine started a book club, and I’m helping her out at the moment with the organization. She’s a single mom, although her baby girl goes to the dad some days. Anyway, in some ways I could understand the characters’ view of life thanks to that friend.

I’m not a mom, but I can understand having people depending on me, and sometimes needing a ‘me time’. Reading definitely is that time by myself. And the book club is a perfect way to connect with others that love to read and that may be in the same situation as we are.

In that aspect the plot and the characters were realistic. They have struggles, loneliness, friendship, kids… Their lives are filled with ups and downs, like we all experience.

The three friends, Stephanie (our main character, one that I loved), Amanda and Janey, grow such a bound between them, it reminded me of my friends and me. I loved their interactions, I loved how they supported each other… I loved them.

And let’s not forget romance. Of course, the book would have romance.

Edward was adorable. A vet that is also Steph’s boss. He loves animals, he’s kind, he’s not your typical alpha male type of character, and I loved that about him.

The book talks about a lot. From motherhood, to friendship, divorce, falling in love again, dealing with all the obstacles in life, and find compassion and support in one another.

Overall, it was an amazing book with a good balance of emotion and humor.

Little does she know that Michael Ames a gorgeous best selling author, and he comes with the package! About the Author

Born in Montreal but raised in New England, author Michelle L. E. Price has been writing as long as anyone can remember. An avid reader who was on the verge of losing her mind as a mom to two small children, Michelle began writing her first book, Hidden in the Writer’s Room, as an escape… at least her characters would do exactly what she told them to do and she could always count on a happily ever after ending. She also enjoys wine, re-watching 90’s sitcoms and occasionally running, but heavily relies on writing to stay sane. Michelle is a firm believer that laughter and love are the best parts of life.

My Review

I don’t read many RomCom, and definitely not many sweet romances, so this book was a breath of fresh air. Although this is part of a series, and I haven’t read the first book, I didn’t feel like I was missing out, because it read as a standalone.

In this book we follow Brandi and Michael, two characters that I really liked. They felt real and true. And I loved the development of their relationship and how everything started and went.

The fantastic thing is that there isn’t just a sweet romance, there is friendship. The group of characters all made me have this feeling of familiarity in a way, and it was fun to read about their moments. RomCom may not me my most read genre, but it’s the interactions of the characters and the fun I have with books like this one that reminds me that maybe I should read more stories in this genre.

Also, I absolutely loved the Text Messages. They were and fun element to have in the story. It made the pace more dynamic and contemporary, and it was funny too. I loved to read them and see the interactions between the characters through it.

Overall, it definitely was what I needed. It gave a good balance to my week, in terms of plot and intensity. This book just made me relax, have fun and forget the world for a couple of hours each day.
