My Review

Who doesn’t love a good office romance? Who doesn’t like a Christmas-y romance? If the answer is “Me!” then you may want to check out this book.

First, this is book three in a series but you can read it as a Standalone, that’s what I did. Although, let me tell you that I now want to read the previous books, that were written by two other authors (Christmas Reunion in Paris by Liz Fielding & Their Royal Baby Gift by Kandy Shepherd).

In this story we follow Erin and Hugo, an employee and her boss. Who could resist that kind of love story on a cold winter night? I love them, they can be very fun and light. But this one… This novel had some extra elements that made me curious with each page. It wasn’t just about the romance, it was about the past of the characters and the revelations along the storyline.

I love the growth of the characters and their relationship. Loved getting to know them and understanding their motivations in each action and plan. The changes, the challenges, the attraction, and the holiday setting. It was all heartwarming and interesting.

It grabbed my attention and it was just the kind of book I enjoy reading if I just want to take my mind of life. Because I could focus on the characters and their struggles and love and see them get an happy ending. I know these romances always bring me a smile in the end.

Overall, I had fun, as expected and now I want to read the previous books so I can understand the other characters.

My Review

It’s always funny to see main characters with the name Jess or Jessica, because that’s my name and nickname, and it makes me laugh for a moment. The most fun was the fact that it was a romance novel with humor in a holiday context.

That been said, this story follows Jess and Jamie, two people that come from different backgrounds. Just that created a good starting point for the characters, while they got to learn about one another, in all the crazy funny interactions between them.

In a resort setting, during the holiday… a snowing moment, a cozy time, an hilarious scene… page after page… It was enjoyable and sweet. And if you are the kind of person that loves Christmas-y romances since humor, you may want to check this book out.

Overall, it was the kind of book one would read in a late afternoon, cozening up in the sofa. A quick and light novel, that will make you laugh.

On an extra note, the cover was a mix of funny and cute for me and it definitely caught my attention right after the title.

My Review

Who doesn’t like Christmas book? And who wouldn’t want a steamy Christmas story? Well, this is it! A steamy romance during the Holidays. Perfect to warm us up during these cold nights. This book is a sequel to Getting Dirty, but can definitely be read as a standalone. Although I’m sure you will want to read the previous novel to know about the best friends and their story.

Now, we follow Caitlin and Jackson in this friends with benefits path. I absolutely loved the interactions, the tension, the attraction and the seduction between them. It was definitely perfect for a relaxing Saturday night in bed surrounded by cozy blankets, at the very least, it will put good dreams in your mind.

Of course that there are obstacles… there is always something that is making the characters take a step back. That’s something that amazing to read because it allow us to get to know them, their past, fears and dreams. It also opens up the story and makes it possible for us to see the development of the characters during the entire plot and storytelling.

Overall, it was a fun story. It was more than the sexual moments. I loved every element in the book, the friendship, the past, and the attraction. And of course, the fact that the characters already knew one another previous to this book give us some added depths into their relationship.

“Christmas at Aunt Elsie’s” Review

Hello Friends!

Happy Sunday! Is it okay to be already reading Christmas stories? Well! I sure feel like it’s the perfect time, and I hope you are ready for a review.

Christmas at Aunt Elsie’s“, written by Emily Harvale, is the second novel of the Seahorse Harbour Series, although it can be read as a standalone novel, publish on 30th September 2020.

I want to thank Rachel, at Rachel’s Random Resources, and Emily Harvale for the eCopy of this book and for allowing me to join in the fun and being a part of the blog tour with my honest review of the book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Synopsis

Christmas at Aunt Elsie’s Cover

A distant relative. A blizzard. A Christmas of surprises.

Lottie Short isn’t looking forward to Christmas. Her boyfriend has dumped her and she’s also lost her job. Lottie and her beloved spaniel, Merry, are facing the festive season – and a bleak future, alone.

But a Christmas card and round-robin letter give Lottie hope. And as the first snowflakes fall, she’s on her way to the tiny seaside village of Seahorse Harbour to visit her distant aunt. She’ll stay in a cosy B&B and get some bracing, sea air. That might lift her spirits.

What she doesn’t plan for is a blizzard, her aunt taking a fall, or the dramas unfolding all around her. But at least there’s a warm welcome at Aunt Elsie’s cottage … and a roaring log fire in the village pub.

That’s not all that might bring a rosy glow to Lottie’s cheeks. Asher Bryant, the local vet is pretty hot, and Lottie also hits it off with another visitor to Seahorse Harbour. This festive season might be better than she hoped.

And when Lottie gets more than one surprise this Christmas, perhaps she and Merry won’t be spending the New Year on their own.

This is book 2 in my new series of standalone novels set in the tiny, seaside village of Seahorse Harbour.

My Review

I always feel like Emily Harvale’s books are this relaxing and comfortable reads perfect for a weekend. Even if you don’t follow the series in order, you can still understand the book and the world the author has created.

In this book, we follow Lottie during this new journey of her life as she goes on a trip to visit an aunt that lives in the small seaside village of Seahorse Harbour. And from someone that does live in a small town, closed by other towns, and not far from the beach and the Atlantic Ocean, I loved the feel that Seahorse Harbour had. It had fun feeling to it and this sense of familiarity. Plus, I loved Lottie and Merry, the cute spaniel and Lottie’s companion.

I had so much fun with this story. The book had gossip, and coming from a small town, that’s daily routine. It had secrets and surprises, that balanced the story very well. And it was really a book about family, friends and love with the crazy village aspect in the mix.

Overall, the author gave me yet again a fun book to read during my relaxing weekend. From the characters and their interactions that I felt could have been real, to the humor Emily Harvale’s storytelling had… it was all a good combination that made me enjoy the novel very much.

My Review

P1070045This is the first book I’ve ever read of Lauren Westwood and it was a great Christmas story. And a perfect ending for my blog tours of 2018, because I felt it was emotional, funny, romantic, thought provoking, relaxing and exciting at the same time and in an amazingly written book. I really enjoyed reading this book and I was captivated since the first time I read the blurb and saw the cover, until I started to read it and right to the very end.

The author gave us the classic opposites attract kind of romance, that she made it fresh with the humor, strong background story in each characters past and the Christmas feel. Christmas to me is a bittersweet holiday, but I still love it and it’s still my favorite holiday.

P1070069So, as I was reading this book I could feel not only the characters feelings, but also the Christmas spirit and the good, the bad and everything in between that comes with life and that touches our way of dealing with problem or circumstances.

The characters were amazing. They were intriguing and had strong personalities. I could almost feel like I was in the room dealing with them and interacting, and at some points I wished I as in the story so I could say a couple of things or just laugh with them, beat some sense into their minds, or just hug them. And that means to me it had some realism and interactivity in the storytelling and it felt genuine.

P1070106I could tell you a lot about the main characters and the plot, but I would be as cryptic as the blurb, and I think you guys should just take a chance and go on this journey with Nicola and Dmitri, and learn about the past, the present and imagine their future. And you will also met amazing secondary characters that are pillars to the main characters, or that just bring an element of dynamic to the interaction of every character in this book.

Overall, I loved it and I can’t wait to read more of Lauren Westwood’s books so I can keep understanding more of her amazing writing style, because from this one I can tell that she has a special touch that makes the words have magic, because I felt like I was in the same emotional journey and living with the characters.

My Review

P1070130This is the third book of Sun Chara I have read and she has a unique way of telling the story that no matter the number of pages it always charm, romance, a touch of humor and relationships drama. This one was a novella, so it was like a snack, since I read it pretty quickly, plus I believe we all need snack times (eating and reading).

Because it was a novella it has that quick pace to it, but to me it didn’t felt that rushed since the characters already had a relationship, in this case they are married, and that added to the flow of the book. The plot made sense with the pace because of the urgency that the characters had to change their lives and reconnect with each other. But that’s what I felt in an overall.

About the characters, I can’t say I related to them in a I know personality what they felt. First of all, I’m not married and I have never been married so I don’t know from experiences the struggles that marriage brings. But I like the characters, because they had this fairytale kind of feeling to them and that something I liked in this novel.

P1070112If you read the blurb you then know that Ellie wants a change, she wants something more for her life. And she’s very determined and she know what she does and doesn’t wand and that played so well in the plot. And she really took things into her own hands and stepped away to try and change her life.

Overall, I liked it. It was a quick fairytale like story about a couple that is struggling in their relationship and looking for the real essence in their marriage and the love they feel for one another and how that should translate into their daily lives. So I liked it, especially since it had that Christmas tone in the background of the setting, that just gave the book some extra magical energy.

My Review

P1070042Although this is the fourth book in a series and I haven’t read the previous ones, actually this is the first book I have read of Helen J. Rolfe, and despite all that, I didn’t felt like I was completely lost in the book. Well, I would have loved to have read the previous books so I had another understanding of the characters and the community, but it’s okay, it made me curious about the other books.

This novel was a delight to read, and it took me forward in getting ready for the holidays. Its was captivating, emotional, warming, funny, exciting and visual. It had all the right components for a Christmas novel, from the friendship and romance to the community interactions, the drama and twist and turns caused by the misunderstandings.

P1070114The characters were well written and each one brought something to the storyline, from the emotions to the humor and everything in between, they felt real and I felt like I knew them and was a part of the community. Of course the main characters were the center of the action, and I love them. There were sweet interactions between them that I loved, there were moments that made me laugh and others that made me want to enter the story and talk to them and say what had to be said. And all of that made Holly and Mitch (and every other character in the book) relatable.

P1070128Then there were the descriptions. The author not only gave us an interesting plot and characters, but also amazingly visual descriptions that transported me into the book. I was able to imagine the scenes the places and the people, and that’s always something I love.

Overall, it was the kind of book that makes me want to stay home, surrounded in blankets and by the fire, with a cup of tea or hot chocolate and just enjoy the story. I haven’t been disappointed with the Christmas Stories I have read so far, and this one is a book I also recommend.

“Bells and Bows on Mistletoe Row” Review

Hello Friends!

Today I bring you another Christmas novel. This one is my second Christmas book by this author, so when I read the title and the author’s name I had to join in the fun. Are you ready for another Holiday experience?

Bells and Bows on Mistletoe Row“, written by Emily Harvale, is a standalone novel, a Light-hearted romance with a Christmas Magic tone.

I want to thank Rachel, at Rachel’s Random Resources, and Emily for the eCopy of this book and for allowing me to join in the fun and by being a part of the blog tour with my honest review of the book.

It’ll take a miracle to make Juliet’s Christmas merry, but Mistletoe Row is the place to be when you need some Christmas magic.

Bels and Bows on Mistletoe Row CoverThe last person Juliet Bell expects to see when she returns home for Christmas is Harrison Bow.Especially with the most beautiful woman in the world by his side. Twenty years ago, Juliet and Harrison had the shortest romance in history, consisting of one date – and one blazing row. But Juliet will never admit when she’s wrong, and Harrison doesn’t forgive easily, so they haven’t seen, or spoken to one another since.

Harrison Bow vowed he’d never visit his grandfather at The Grange, again, or drive along Mistletoe Row, the scene of one of the unhappiest times of his life. He hasn’t been back for twenty years and he’s only here now because his brother pleaded with him to come. At least with his executive assistant joining him, he’ll be able to do some work.

But Juliet’s sister, Zoe and Harrison’s brother, Luke have some surprises in store for their elder siblings, and so it seems does Fate. After Harrison risks his life to save Juliet, the least she can do is be nice. The problem is, Harrison is hotter than the log fire in The Mistletoe pub, and when she’s surrounded by twinkling lights and softly falling snow, it doesn’t take long for her to realise she’s in love with the man she thought she hated. Even if he doesn’t appear to be in love with her.

My Review

P1070044This isn’t my first book by Emily Harvale, and I feel like I already have an understanding about her writing style. And this is a the second Christmas novel I read of hers, and like the other one (part of a series), this one had a lot of elements that just made the book so fun to read and so Christmas-y.

Set in a town with an epic name, seriously Mistletoe Row is a epic name for a town in a Christmas novel. Then there is the title that just fits well with the characters, the setting and the mode of the story. And that’s Emily Harvale’s amazing ability. The characters names were also something I loved too.

Speaking of the town, the community and people’s interactions was awesome, fun and just want I was looking for. There was that small town feeling to it that I love so much, and that is always interesting to read because everyone knows everyone and everyone is close to each other (in a good and bad way). It all transported me to that town and I found that to be a very positive thing, because that meant the book was engaging and relatable, and in some ways I wish I could live there, although many of you know I’m from a small town and it’s not as magical as some books make it sound, that’s why I love books like this because it’s an escape.

P1070110The characters were funny and relatable and there was drama and romance, just like any Christmas novel that make us fall in love with the main characters and root for them to resolve all the problems and be happy. Plus, the family relationship and the friendships were dynamic and I specially loved Juliet and Harrison’s relationship because there were a lot of fun (and funny) moments between them.

Overall, it was an amazing Romance novel, full of snow and ice skating all the things I can’t do in my hometown because that’s not our weather. And of course it had that Christmas wonderland feeling with the beautiful descriptions of the romantic moments, the sounds of the life in that town, the colors in all the Christmas Trees and tinkly lights, the smell of the food and the coziness of the warmth of the people and the love story.

My Review

P1070043This is my first novel by Angela Britnell, but now my first Christmas book this year, nevertheless, the author give us a sweet Christmas Romance novel, full of cute moments and some scenes that made me think, and of course great characters.

The book follows Fee and Tom. Fee is a photographer and Tom is the owner of Black Cherry Retreat. Well, I have ever been to a retreat before, so I get quite intrigued about books that are located in one, and I was very curious about Tom and Fee’s stories before them met.

P1070111The characters are all quite intriguing. We met new characters as we follow Fee and Tom’s lives and relationship, and although it felt like it was a quick story, and I would have loved to explore more about the characters personalities and lives, especially Fee and Tom’s past, in an overall, it was a cute and entertaining story.

What I liked a lot was the present, the development in the main characters’ relationship. Fee and Tom are both suffering, are both damaged and that’s okay, we are all dealing with things in our lives and it was something I could relate too in a way. The lost of someone important is hard, and seeing how they are dealing with it was a good touch. Plus, it was funny to see their interactions too.

P1070131Then there are the descriptions of the setting and moment in time that made the book sound real, despite the quick development in just a short amount of time, months really. I loved the retreat and I wish I could go there. It made the love story pop and made it like this wonderland. For me at least since I never been to a retreat and I have this dreamy version of that it may look like.

Overall, it was a Christmas romance that start before Christmas and it was the classic tale of opposites attract. A story that made me feel and dream, it was a good start in the holiday celebrations, now that we are in December, and I like it.
