I hope you are having a good Monday so far, because mine has been crazy with having to go pick up my aunt at the airport, but now that I’m back home I will be able to share today’s reviews with you all. Here is the first one.
“Overstrike“, written by CM Angus, is the first volume in the Fixpoint series, published February 14th 2020.
I want to thank Rachel, at Rachel’s Random Resources, and CM Angus for the eCopy of this book and for allowing me to join in the fun and being a part of the blog tour with my honest review of the book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
When Matt Howard’s grandfather told him he must alter history to protect his newborn son, Matt thought the old man was crazy…
…Then he realised it was true.
Overstrike spans 4 generations of a family haunted by the prospect of an approaching alternate reality where their child has been erased from history.
Touching on themes of retro-causality, ethics and free will, and exploring ideas of cause, effect and retribution, it follows the path of Matt Howard, whose child, Ethan, is at risk, as he, his father and grandfather attempt to use their own abilities to manipulate reality in order to discover and prevent whoever is threatening Ethan.
Overstrike is volume I of Fixpoint, a trilogy about a family who discover their inherited ability to manipulate reality. It enables them to effect changes in order to safeguard themselves and all that they hold dear. But even seemingly small changes in a timeline can have unforeseen and far-reaching consequences. Follow the stories of the Howards, on a journey exploring reality, time and our own sense of self.

This is my first book by CM Angus and I’m always open to discover new-to-me authors, and expand the genre of books I read. This is a sci-fi, a genre that I’m always fascinated about, and this book had quite an interesting plot full of wow moments, thanks to the twists and turns.
Time traveling is a concept I have been curious about since I first saw Back to the Future, and then read and watched stories related to the subject. It’s something so interesting and very futurist most of the time, but it’s a concept that we all recognize, so I was interested in knowing how the author took it.
The characters were well created and following them on this unexpected and unusual adventure was very entertaining. I was definitely surprised and I’m not giving out much information just in case, because no spoilers in this review (EVER).
Knowing this is just the start of the series makes me happy because it was a very good beginning that left me with just enough questions, but a lot of answers as well. All the information that is given to us keeps peaking our attention.
Overall, I enjoyed the book a lot and I can’t wait for the next ones in the series.
