“The Best Boomerville Hotel” Review

Hello Friends!

How are you guys doing this raining Sunday? And yes, it’s raining a lot here in Portugal, so I hope you are all safe and sound at home.

Today I bring you my review of “The Best Boomerville Hotel“, written by Caroline James. This standalone Contemporary / Romantic Comedy was published 6th November 2018.

I want to thank Rachel, at Rachel’s Random Resources, and Caroline for the eCopy of this book and for allowing me to join in the fun and by being a part of the blog tour with my honest review of the book.

The Best Boomerville Hotel

TBBH high res coverLet the shenanigans begin at the Best Boomerville Hotel …

Jo Docherty and Hattie Contaldo have a vision – a holiday retreat in the heart of the Lake District exclusively for guests of ‘a certain age’ wishing to stimulate both mind and body with new creative experiences. One hotel refurbishment later and the Best Boomerville Hotel is open for business!

Perhaps not surprisingly Boomerville attracts more than its fair share of eccentric clientele: there’s fun-loving Sir Henry Mulberry and his brother Hugo; Lucinda Brown, an impoverished artist with more ego than talent; Andy Mack, a charming Porsche-driving James Bond lookalike, as well as Kate Simmons, a woman who made her fortune from an internet dating agency but still hasn’t found ‘the One’ herself.

With such an array of colourful individuals there’s bound to be laughs aplenty, but could there be tears and heartbreak too and will the residents get more than they bargained for at Boomerville?

My Review

This is my introduction to Caroline James’ books and writing style. From the title to the blurb, from the plot to the characters, “The Best Boomerville Hotel” was a unique contemporary romantic comedy that was amusing and delightful to read.

I’m always excited about a ‘new-to-me’ author because I get to learn about his/hers writing style. In this book, Caroline gave us an engaging book with funny characters, each with their own stories and personality traits that made it novel diverse and interesting. Plus, it actually made me wish I could book a vacation at that hotel so I could me them.

Of course there were some entertaining moments that made me laugh and others that were cute and happy. Despite all that, and despite being a romantic comedy, it still had some deeper subjects, that made me think about made me emotional for and with the characters.

Overall, this novel made me happy and I’m glad I got to read it and find a new author with an amazing writing style and the ability in creating characters that make me wonder and curious about their lives and stories.
