Hello Friends!
Like I promised yesterday, on my “The Penance List” Review post, here I am again with the review of book two, “Unfinished Business“.
Thanks to Rachel, from Rachel’s Random Resources, and S.C. Cunningham I was able to read this book in exchange for a honest review.
Blurb
He loved being him… he got away with murder.
She loved being her… until she met him.
The steamy roller coaster ride of psychotic David’s obsession with his childhood sweetheart, a skilled mix of fuelled tension, dark humour and pulsating sex scenes.
With the help of her gutsy friends, fun-loving city girl Tara Warr is the only victim to survive David Howard’s death list. Whilst lounging in prison the hypnotic sexual tour de force enlists an eager recruit, seduces a prison warden and relocates to the sunnier climes of Mexico, a freedom short-lived when his charred remains are found in the fire of a plastic surgeon’s clinic. The police cease their search, finally Tara and her friends can relax, David is dead.
Laughter soon turns to fear when he communicates via Tara’s laptop that he is very much alive, knows their every move and is ready to finish what he started. He is among them, but who? He has a brand new face.
Tara has had enough, time to turn the tables and make him suffer. A woman unafraid of death is a dangerous thing. Has David finally met his match?

My Review
If my exciting about this series was already evident in the review I did for book one, then I don’t know what to tell you guys. This is book two of the David Trilogy, which means it’s not over with this book and damn!… I do want to read the next one right now so I can know more.
After finishing “The Penance List” I immediately grabbed “Unfinished Business“, because I couldn’t wait much longer without knowing what happened next. In this review I won’t get into any details because I want to you guys to go read the first book (if you haven’t read it already) and the second book.
As you can read from the blurb, David is now behind bars, and if you read the first book you know why. And while I was reading the book I was always expecting something to happen. Maybe because S. C. Cunningham’s writing style is so engaging and you feel like you are in the book, living all those scenes with the characters. And that’s just means the writing style, storyline and characters create a connection with us.
Another thing I really like and that I think it’s very important is character development. And you can see that in this book. You get to see the effects that the events in book one had in Tara. Plus you get deeper into David’s mind.
Is that even possible, you may ask? It was for me. That’s the beauty of this book. You really do get stuck in this vortex of events and darkness and instead of coming out, you just dive in more and want to know what’s going to happen next. We get to know even more about his past and the thing is, I can’t help but feel sorry for him even though I know what he did in the present.
Based on his actions, David is a monster. Still his twisted mind as a way of captivating me while I read about him and his thoughts. Captivate because I’m trying really hard to figure him out. To figure out what is true and what he really wants in the bottom of heart. So the story is engaging in a weird way for me.
Nevertheless, S. C. Cunningham is capable of giving us enough light and fun moments for us to be able to just keep reading and balancing the strong subjects. And I’m talking about dark subjects, because she could go really dark with some subjects, I’m talking about sad, strong, infuriating subjects, like child abuse for example. When I read about books with subjects like that it always breaks my heart. The fact that the author could balance the amount of information dark and light is fantastic and just perfect.
I’m so damn happy I read this book (and the first one) because it’s a different series from the books I have read in the past few years, and I think I needed this genre and the way it is presented to just cleanse my mind and just get out of my comfort zone.
This book did not disappoint me and it was fantastic. I keep my opinion about this series. I recommend it to everyone that wants a book that is an unusual Thriller and Erotica book, and if you want to get out of your comfort zone.
